Collection Development is one of the primary functions of a university library. We are responsible for meeting the instructional and research information needs of Illinois State University's students and faculty. Books, periodicals, audiovisual material, and electronic resources are curated by a group of librarians who serve as subject specialists for all of the departments and schools on campus. Milner Library’s current annual materials budget allocation is approximately $4 million.
The collection consists of:
- 1.63 million print volumes
- 120,600 ebooks
- 79,900 electronic periodical titles
- 1,541 print periodical titles
- 264 databases
