Visual representations of the world created by children from across cultures have the power to spark interdisciplinary dialogue and inquiries rooted in our curiosity and need to understand and discover a meaningful place in the world. Milner Library invites you to view a selected number of pieces from the International Collection of Child Art. Thought provoking representations of whimsical animals, fanciful portraits, and musings on daily life provide a window for the viewer to share the outlook of a child and gain a deeper understanding of a young artist’s visual experience.
Accompanying the exhibit is a display of selected titles from Milner’s collection including books on children’s art and publications which have featured artworks from the International Collection of Child Art.
Curatorial assistance for this exhibit provided by Milner Library summer intern, Lauren Gray, a senior at Illinois State University majoring in Art Education & English Studies.
