Normal School Board of the State of Illinois
The Normal School Board of the State of Illinois (also known as the State Normal School Board) was the successor to the Board of Education of the State of Illinois. The administrative change came about as a result of an Illinois state a law passed in 1917 called the Civil Administrative Code. The law was meant to streamline state administrative bodies by consolidating and restructuring existing state governing boards. As a result, the Civil Administrative Code allowed for more government oversight of the state normal schools. This board changed its name to the Teacher's College Board in 1936 though the name change was not reflected in the board reports until 1941.
