In its more than 150-year history, Illinois State University has been governed by six boards. Below is list of these boards with links to their monthly reports. Board of Education of the State of Illinois, 1857-1917
The first higher education governing board in the state of Illinois.
Normal School Board, 1917-1936
Second governing board, replacing the Board of Education in 1917 with the passage of the Civil Administration Code.
Teachers College Board of the State of Illinois, 1936-1965
Third governing board, replacing the Normal School Board.
Board of Governors of the State Colleges and Universities of the State of Illinois, 1965-1967
Fourth governing board, replacing the Teaching College Board.
Board of Regents of the State of Illinois, 1967-1995
Fifth governing board, replacing the Board of Governors. This is the last statewide governing board.
Illinois State University Board of Trustees, 1995-present
Sixth and current governing board for ISU. The first board convened for ISU that handles only ISU specific actions and activities.
