I-Share
Milner Library is a member of the I-Share integrated library system that serves as the online public catalog for 86 CARLI member libraries. I-Share provides the Illinois State University community with an online catalog that includes both Milner owned materials as well as a the catalog holdings of all I-Share libraries. This allows Illinois State patrons to request materials directly from other Illinois academic and research libraries. This in turn supports resource sharing among participating libraries. As a CARLI/I-Share member library, Milner Library adheres to the I-Share Library Resource Sharing Code. Specific details about standard I-Share borrowing polices are found in Appendix A.
Loan Policies
- The initial loan period for all print materials is 28 days
- Students and staff are eligible for 3 renewals
- Non-print materials have a loan period of 14 days, with no renewals
- Patron accounts will be blocked when an I-Share item becomes 21 days overdue
Fines and bills from other I-Share Libraries
Milner Library borrowers are subject to the loan and fine policies of the institution from which they have borrowed the material. All Illinois State University faculty, graduate students, staff, and undergraduates may be charged overdue fines, processing fees, and lost book charges by the lending library for failure to return or renew material by the due date.
As a member of the I-Share Library Consortium, Milner Library adheres to the I-Share Library Resource Sharing Code. This code obligates us to assist the lending library in securing the return of both overdue materials and the fines and/or processing fees associated with late renewals or returns. Lending libraries may request that we block the borrowing privileges of Illinois State patrons who fail to return or renew materials when due, who fail to return recalled material promptly, or who do not pay invoices received for overdue fines, billing fees, or lost book charges promptly. It is the policy of Milner Library to notify the patron in question that a problem exists and to block the patron's borrowing privileges if the problem is not resolved within 2 weeks.
