Athletic pennants haven’t always been about sports. Tracing their history back to Medieval courts, pennants were tools used to identify armies on the battlefield, a knight’s allegiance to a crown, and even identification for military ships. Today, these triangular flags serve a different purpose – to showcase a loyal fan’s dedication to their favorite team.
From the medieval ages to today’s sports, Raising History shows how pennants have flown through the ages and have celebrated our favorite hometown team. The exhibit will also feature rarely-seen flags, on display for the first time in Milner Library.
