This year marks the 50th anniversary of the 26th amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The 26th amendment lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 and demonstrated the importance of the student vote. This year Illinois State University’s Constitution Day and Week celebrations focus on this historic amendment, the impact of the student vote, and the importance of political engagement on campus.
This exhibit includes a visual display of the amendments to the U.S. Constitution, along with books, materials, and historical photos related to student voting.
