This selection of Lyndsie Schlink's digital photographs highlights her background in both fine art photography and photojournalism. Shot during her career as the Senior Photographer at Illinois State University, the photos in View Finder convey her compositional and framing skills, capability of story-telling through images, and practice of using minimal post-production image editing. While widely published in digital and print formats, View Finder presents her work, for just the second time, solely as individual, stand-alone photographs.
Schlink’s View Finder collection was originally displayed at the Joe McCauley Gallery at Heartland Community College from February 12-May 4, 2018. The collection has been expanded to fit the new space at Milner.
To contrast the photos in View Finder with a sample of their print publications, visit the large display case at the center of the exhibit. The differences between Schlink's images in the gallery to their commercial counterparts include smaller scale, often cropped compositions, superimposed text, story line captions, and other elements in collaboration with her design team.
