Featuring the work of School of Art senior, Ashley Koenig, "Living His Story" is a photographic exhibition comprised of interviews with World War II veterans across the Midwest. Each of the veterans Koenig has documented is accompanied by photographs of themselves while in active service. Exploring the relationship between war and memory, honor and tribute, this collection is presented as a series of portraits. Passages in which veterans tell their first-hand accounts from Pearl Harbor to the last push into Germany are included recounting the experiences of those in combat, bombers, tail-gunners, paratroopers, military police and mechanics. Their stories are presented through text as well as an audio component available through the library resources. Also on display will be selected World War II posters and samples of Newsmaps from Milner Library's Government Documents and map collections.
Additional programming for this exhibition includes a reception and artist talk scheduled for February 4th at 5:00 pm.
This exhibition is sponsored by Milner Library and funded in part by Illinois State University Friends of the Arts.
