A Moment That Flits Away: Daguerrean Vision in Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The House of Seven Gables" is a satellite exhibition complementing The House of Seven Gables concurrently on view at the University Galleries. This exhibition explores how, in his 1851 novel, Hawthorne uses the daguerreotype, both literally and metaphorically, to reflect upon ideas of modernity, identity and vision.
