Biography
Terri Goss Kinzy became ISU’s 20th president on July 1st, 2021. Kinzy, a biochemist, molecular biologist, and molecular geneticist, began her career in 1995 at Rutgers University at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. In addition to research and academics, Kinzy served in administrative positions, including as executive director of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School DNA Synthesis and Sequencing Laboratory. She later served as the director of the School’s PhD program and continued as the Senior Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. In 2018, Kinzy began her tenure at Western Michigan University as Vice president for research and innovation. In that role, Kinzy oversaw administrative and research operations for the University.
Upon her naming as the 20th president of ISU in 2021, Kinzy was an established research scholar. Kinzy has authored seventy-three articles, co-written seventeen book chapters and reviews, and participated in thirty-five research studies that received over $9 million in funding.
Kinzy’s tenure at ISU ended abruptly on February 14, 2023, after less than two years into her four-year contract. Aondover Tarhule, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, was named interim president on February 17, 2023. After a national search, Tarhule became ISU’s 21st president on March 18, 2024.
