Victor John Boschini, Jr (1956- ) was the sixteenth president of Illinois State University. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Boschini earned degrees from Mount Union College, Bowling Green State University, and his PhD in higher education administration from Indiana University in 1989. Boschini held administrative posts at Indiana University before becoming associate provost at Butler University in 1990. Hired as the vice president for student affairs in 1997, Boschini also served as an associate professor in the department of Educational Administration and Foundations. Boschini was chosen to succeed Strand and became president in 1999.

Redefining Normal

One of the biggest undertakings during Boschini’s tenure was the 2000 launch of the ‘Redefining Normal’ campaign, the university’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign. He also launched ‘Educating Illinois’, a strategic plan that the university community still uses today. During Boschini’s tenure Illinois State University received its first endowed chair. ISU also received a $5 million donation to the College of Business from Caterpillar. In January 2003, Boschini announced his departure from ISU to become the tenth chancellor at Texas Christian University.
