Item Record

 How to Request

You can request Storage Basement items online using the Milner Catalog. In the full catalog record for an item, use the Request Item tab as seen above. If you are not already logged in you will be prompted to do so. If you do not have an account, click the Create an Account link. The request process will continue once the account is created.

Once logged in, the item record will display three dropdown boxes, asking you to choose “item”, “pick-up library”, and “pick-up location”. These will default to our recommended settings, although you may change these choices as necessary. Click the “Request” button. The confirmation message, “Request submitted. Check here for status” will appear. The “here” link will take you to the Requested Items page of your library account.

When requesting journals or magazines, you will be prompted to specify the volume you need. If you need more than one volume, you'll need to place separate online requests for each. When requesting microforms that do not have an individual item record, you will be required to place the request in Milner Catalog (Classic), utilizing the note field to specify the date, volume number, etc.

When Requested Items are Available to You

Items are retrieved at regular intervals throughout the day. You will receive an e-mail notification when your requested materials are available at the circulation desk, where they will be held for two weeks. Most requests will be filled within a few hours. In some cases (including late night requests), your request may not be filled until the next day.
