Connectors for Apple Devices (MacBook, iPad, etc.)


Photo of a 15-Pin VGA connectorMilner Library providers several different types of connectors that enable users of Apple devices (MacBooks, iPads, etc.) to output video to a VGA (15-pin) video input connection.  15-pin VGA connectors are found on various types of library computers and monitors, including the connector cords to the Collaboration Stations on the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth (Room 514), and Sixth Floors. 

Apple VGA AdapterApple VGA Adapter:  Use the Apple VGA Adapter to mirror whatever is on your iPad 2 or 3 screen on a VGA display.  The Apple VGA Adapter also connects to the iPad 1, but not all apps may mirror properly.  Apple VGA Adapers are available at all Collaboration Stations in Milner. 

The mini-DisplayPort on Apple computersmini-DisplayPort:  Introduced in October 2008, the mini-DisplayPort is the current Apple standard connector for laptop computers, used in the MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro notebooks.  mini-DisplayPort connectors are available at all Collaboration Stations in Milner. 

mini-DVI connector for Apple Computersmini-DVI:  This type of connector was used in select Apple portable computers between 2003 and 2008.  The mini-DVI connector is found on the 12-inch PowerBook G4, the MacBook Intel-based laptop, and the 2009 Mac mini.  Mini-DVI connectors are available at the Circulation Counter on the Second (Main) Floor for 3-hour in-library use. 

Image of a micro-DVI port on an Apple computermicro-DVI:  This video connection port was used on early Apple MacBook Air laptop computers manufactured between January and October 2008.  No other Macintosh portable computer used this connector.  Micro-DVI connectors are available at the Circulation Counter on the Second (Main) Floor for 3-hour in-library use.

Image of a mini-VGA port on an Apple computermini-VGA:  This connector was used on select Apple laptops around 2003.  Mini-VGA connectors are most commonly seen on Apple iBooks and early 12-inch PowerBooks, but also were included on several Sony laptops.   Mini-VGA connectors are available at the Circulation Counter on the Second (Main) Floor for 3-hour in-library use.

Image of a DVI connector on an Apple computerDVI:  Apple used DVI on their portable computers from October 2001 through 2005.  DVI connectors are found on some G3 and most G4 PoweBooks with the notable exception of the 12-inch PowerBook, which used a mini-DVI connector.  DVI connectors are availabe at the Circulation Counter on the Second (Main) Floor for 3-hour in-library use.
